A question – if RCQs are tier 2, isn’t it very hard to get the LGS loyalty achievement? That might be intentional to handicap people who go to a lot of them, but I wanted to mention it.

  5. The Masked Ameoba said

Yeah, basically it gives a bonus for people who can’t afford to, or don’t have a chance to get to places that are further away.

I am trying to use the achievements to boost chances for the casual and “not top 8 all the time” players to compete.

  6. Jedion said

I just want to note, use caution rewarding teams too much for “doing stuff together” (ie all 4 placing top 8 in a local tournament). Not every team is based around a local gaming store. The internet helps us make friends :)

  7. Anonymous said

Well conversely teams that are spread out and go to different RCQs have a chance to generate more points if multiple 1st places are achieved instead of eliminating each other in the same tournament.

  8. The Masked Ameoba said

There are also more achievements coming. I just don’t want to spoil them all at once.

Perhaps there may be something akin to Double your Pleasure for teams who are more spread out?

Wat is the prize break down

    Why didn’t anyone anwser me?

  11. The Masked Ameoba said

Sorry for not having the prize breakdowns yet. We are still waiting on some people to tell us what they can help with for donations for prizes.

They may not be stellar prizes, just to give you a warning. If you are into this for fortune you may be disappointed. It’s a free contest to enter and nobody is making any money at all, so if you really don’t like whatever prizes we can scrape together I can’t help you. The contest was first and formost a way to bring a team competition to wow, and to get a first crack at this to see if it works. I also just wanted to do something fun that hasn’t been done before.

If some of the corporate sponsorships come through we may get some nice prizes, but as of now its just packs, ea’s, and deck boxes.

We are hoping to get some information at DMF:San Fran, as Jeff is going to be giving Girard and Ryan the arm to get them to give us something to give away.

Again, the main thrust of this contest is to see
    1) how well it works
    B) what kind of interest there is in this
    and
    3) to have a good time and earn some bragging rights.

    About Loyalty to LGS.

How does this work. Tier 2 and Tier 3. Tier 3 is easy, because it’s Battlegrounds and I can achieve because I only play BG at a single store.

However, Tier 2 would be RQs. They are never at the store where I play BG, and the ones in our area switch between San Jose, Berkeley, Sacramento etc.

Does that mean I can’t get Loyalty to LGS, because RQs aren’t held there, and move around?

    Cheers.

  13. The Masked Ameoba said

You make a good point. I am going to break up the Loyalty to LGS into 2 achievements. One for Tier 2 and one for Tier 3.

The tier 3 one will be less points (for obvious reasons)than the tier 2 version. Getting the tier 2 one will mean you sacrifice going to some RQs that are at different locations. You get an achievement for it instead. I may up the points on that one, since it should be a fairly rare one to get.

  14. manu-fan said

The other thing you need to state is ‘Duration’. All events for how long? Maybe for a consecutive 3 month period or something? What do you think?

    Cheers.

  15. manu-fan said

Damn, should have thought of this on my last post.

About ‘Close only counts….’. In Tier 2, they usually cut to top 8, so it’s like there are 4 5th place players. Why not state ‘miss out on the cut at any Tier 1 or 2 tourney by one place’ That is 5th when they cut to top 4. 9th when they cut to top 8.

    Cheers.

  16. The Masked Ameoba said

The Close only counts is actually intended to represent the prize support. Because the “good” prizes stop at 4 in the Tier 2 events, that leaves the 5th place person at close to getting a good prize but missing out.

The problem with that is sometimes TO’s use the swiss finals for prize support, and some times they wait until the top 8 plays out. I have had experience with both. So it may not make sense in some cases.

  17. Manu-fan said

Well, don’t worry about changing it then. There’s always a 5th place player when they upload the event, even if it’s Top 8 cutoff. You just need to wait to work out if your’e fifth, that’s all.

    Cheers.

    The Masked Amoeba:

Can a player join a pre-existing team if there is still room, or must all team members be named at team formation?

I’m trying to figure out if I need to join up as a free-agent, start my own new team, or help out an existing team.

There aren’t very many rules restricting changing teams. The big one is that if you change members to a full team, you lose any scores/achievements that the person being replaced had.

So yes, you can join a pre-ex team, or even replace an inactive member of another team.

“an inactive member of another team”

    Like my whole team, lol.

You need to update the points for Team Dreamcrush, especially with how they did this weekend.
